Q: I am losing hope in my dream. What should I do?
 A:
Without knowing enough on what kind of dream you are talking about, or
how long you have had this dream, how you went about pursuing this
dream or why you feel you should lose hope at this point, I hope I can
help you pinpoint some answers in a general way.
Ask yourself, how long I have given this dream time to manifest itself?
No one can tell you an exact timeframe that is appropriate, but ask
yourself, have I given it an appropriate amount of time? You may need
to seek the advice of people that have achieved this goal. Have you
pursued all of the avenues that were available to you? Have you been
creative to look into different approaches to this dream? Have you
reached out to others for help, or are you trying to do this on your
own. Sometimes we need others to get us across a bridge that might be
blocking us. Networking is very important. Getting to know people in
different areas that might help you break through – networking is a key
to success.
Ask yourself, did I work on the skills needed for this dream? Maybe I have to be patient because the skills will take time to build. Some CEOs of major companies started in the mailroom or as clerks. They still had their dream but they worked hard to get it. If you ask some of the most successful people and ask them about the path they took, most of them had to struggle a while before they reached their dream.
If you are bumping into closed doors that you hoped would open for you – perhaps God is closing them to get you to the one he wants you to open. We sometimes consult God on our problems, but don’t consult Him on our dreams. He knows the talents you have (He gave them to you) and He gave them to you for a purpose. He has a dream for you that reaches His purpose. He wants you to be in a certain place, doing a certain thing, dealing with certain people, for a certain reason for His Kingdom. We sometimes overlook God’s plan when we have put our will in front of us for so long. All I can tell you is that God is seeing the future and the roadblocks before you can see them. He knows what will help you and what will hurt you.
It is hard to give you more specifics without knowing details, but start by praying this:“Dear God, is my dream Your dream for me? Teach me patience if it is and give me guidance, and if it isn’t guide me to Your dream for me and remove the desire for the things that you don’t want for me. “
