Limiting Blessings By: B.M. Have you ever had a dream to accomplish and you prayed about it many times and the answer was “not yet”? Then you prayed repeatedly until one day it happened. It is an amazing feeling. It confirms that GOD is listening to you.As you might have read before, I love to fish. Every time I go fishing, it is a chance for me to pray, listen to GOD, and learn my lessons. Well, there is a fish called Stripe-Bass (Stripers) which is very had to catch. I have been trying to catch one for the last two years. NJ laws put limits; you can keep only two, and the fish has to be 28 inches or bigger. So if you happen to catch one less than 28 inches you would have to through it back into the water. This fish only passes through NJ in spring and winter for few weeks. So last week I did all my research and went fishing on a boat. The night before, I had a new weapon, I prayed with my daughter so I would catch all three fishes. I bought a permit to take home a third fish. The day started slow. No fish anywhere. After couple of hours, we found the birds feed on the small/bait fish and that is where the big fish are eating too. Few people on the boat were catching and I did not. I felt discouraged. I started thinking that this might be another time where my answer is to “wait”. But all the sudden I got hooked on a fish and it was great. The boat captain helped me to get the fish into the boat (11 ¼ lb). I was so happy. I thanked GOD for it as I put it in the cooler. Fifteen minutes later, I got another one (9 ½ lb). Then I got the big one, 13 ½ lb! With a big smile on my face I can say I caught the three. I called my wife and gave her the news. I am a proud papa of triplets :). After that I did not catch or hook another fish but I was still smiling. So even though other fishermen/anglers were still catching fish, I could not catch another one. It hit me right there. I got my prayer answered; We asked GOD for three fished and that is what we got. I put a limit on how much I should be blessed. So the lesson is, when we pray for something we should not put a limit. Ask God’s blessings and wait for the fullness of time to be delivered. |
